Famous Tourist Destinations near Jammu (Patnitop, Nathatop, Sanasar)

As we all know, Jammu and Kashmir is famous for its natural beauty but still there is lot more to explore specially in Jammu division. Certain measures are taken by the J&K tourism department to attract more and more tourists. 

Here in this blog, we will talk about the famous hill stations which are near to Jammu and are worth to visit. So, here we go 😉

1. PATNITOP 

The first and famous place which comes to mind near Jammu is PATNITOP. Basically, Patnitop hill station comes under Udhampur district which is itself a joyful destination. Patnitop is about 112 kms away from Jammu city via NH44. Chenani-Nashri Tunnel, India's longest road tunnel (9.2 kms) which is just few meters away from the diversion of Patnitop which add more happy moments to the journey (the tunnel helped a lot in reducing the traffic jams, shortened the distance between Jammu to Srinagar by 30 kms and time by 2 hours).

In Patnitop, there is a Nag temple attributed to Baba Chouncer which is believed to be about 1400 years old. During nagpanchmi, locals arrange a festival there. Some of the pics are :-

In the way to Patnitop, there comes a place famous for its mouth-watering sweet locally named as 'Patisaa'. So do not miss to purchase it from there. (Prem di Hatti is the oldest shop which makes Patisaa in Kud).

2. NATHATOP

Nathatop is another hill station which is around 14 kms away from Patnitiop on the road to Sanasar. From here you can see the beauty of Shivalik Hills as it is located on a height of 7000fts approximately.

3. SANASAR :-

Sanasar is about 20 kms away from Patnitop to the west direction and is the last destination of the route. It is famous for its lake and adventure sport activities. From here you can easily see the famous Brammah Massif mountain range which compromises of four peaks form west to east.

Tulip Garden at Sanasar :-

There is temple called Shankhpal which is few hours away from Sanasar and is the highest point in the Shankhpal ridge. Locals believe that it is around 400 years old and the fascinating thing about the temple is that it is made with no use of mortar.
